About Claire Morgan

Claire joined Orpen Franks Solicitors LLP as a Partner in the Commercial and Intellectual Property department in February 2016. Prior to joining Orpen Franks Solicitors LLP Claire was a Partner in a leading London law firm and has extensive experience in both commercial and intellectual property law across a wide range of business and industry sectors. She advises individuals, companies and partnerships on corporate restructures, sale and purchase of assets and shares, shareholder agreements, partnership agreements and dispute resolution. More generally, Claire advises SMEs and individuals in setting up companies, joint venture agreements, financial arrangements, executive level employment and service contracts, and general commercial transactions including distribution, agency and franchising agreements and online supply of goods & service contracts. Claire has significant experience in intellectual property law including in acting for international clients in relation to protected designations of origins. She advises clients on brand protection and enforcement of their intellectual property rights including by registering Irish, Community and International trade marks, opposing third party trade mark applications, relying on the law of passing off and also copyright protection. Claire is also experienced in drafting and negotiating software development agreements and bespoke software licences and in retrieving domain names from “cyber-squatters” through the World Intellectual Property Office dispute resolution procedures.

Education

Claire graduated from University in Manchester in 2002 with Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and University of Law in 2005 with a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice.  Claire was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in England & Wales in 2008 and subsequently admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in Ireland.
