Fatal Claims And Inquests

Where a person dies as a result of wrongdoing or negligence on the part of another, a fatal injury claim can be taken on behalf of the deceased’s dependents.

Claims seek damages for the following:

– Mental distress (pain and suffering)
– Funeral expenses
– Inquest expenses
– Probate costs
Inquests:

The purpose of an inquest is to establish the cause of death and the circumstances surrounding an unexplained death.

Inquests by their nature are inquisitorial rather than accusatorial, however they are extremely helpful in an effort to obtain answers and explanations as to how a loved one died.

In addition, a Coroner can make recommendations in an effort to ensure similar mistakes are not made again.
