About Rachael ListonRachael joined Orpen Franks as a Partner in our Medical Negligence and Professional Negligence Department in 2014. She qualified as a solicitor in 2001 and specialised in medical and professional negligence shortly after qualification. She leads the medical negligence team and brings with her a wealth of experience in successfully representing victims of medical negligence in Ireland. She offers compassionate and expert advice to claimants who have suffered serious and often catastrophic injuries as a result of medical and surgical errors. Rachael has experience in all areas of medical negligence, to include brain injuries, birth injuries, pregnancy related injuries, brachial plexus injuries, spinal injuries, perforation injuries, orthopaedic injuries, cosmetic surgery injuries, late diagnosis or failure to diagnose illnesses and surgical injuries, dental injuries. Rachael has represented and advised numerous individuals and families who have been affected by medical negligence and she appeared on the Prime Time Investigates programme, Fatal Failures in January 2012, having represented the Molloy family in relation to the death of their son Mark at Portlaoise Hospital. Rachael also appeared on the Prime Time Investigates programme, Under the Microscope, in February 2018 having represented Alison McCormack regarding a cancer misdiagnosis case involving St James’ Hospital. Rachael has given numerous radio interviews with regards to baby deaths and medical negligence claims relating to Portlaoise Hospital and Portiuncula Hospital. She also specialises in professional negligence claims and has successfully represented numerous claimants in relation to claims arising from negligent advice received from solicitors, barristers, accountants, architects, engineers, surveyors and trustees. She also represents claimants in relation to financial mis-selling and disputes with regards to losses arising from advice provided by a bank or financial institution. Rachael was honoured to receive the award of Dublin Solicitor of the Year at the 2017 Irish Law Awards.
EducationRachael was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in Ireland in 2001, having graduated from University College Cork with a Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL). Rachael has been awarded Diplomas in Commercial Litigation and Employment law from the Law Society of Ireland.
